FAQs

Q: What is a MUD?
A: A MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) is a completely text based game where you travel from "room" to "room", interact with other players, "mobiles" (non-player characters) and objects, and ultimately (we hope) enjoy yourself. Isle of War is a specific branch of MUD known as a Medieval Fantasy Roleplaying MUD.

Q: What is a MUD client?
A: A mud client is a program designed to make mudding easier. It incorporates things such as Aliases, Triggers and Macros to make interacting with the world much faster. While the Isle of War does not have relations with any MUD client creator as of yet, two common mud clients are ZMud and GMud.

Q: Is this a free game?
A: Yes, Isle of War is completely free to play. You will never be asked to pay for any of the game's services. All that is required is a working internet connection. A MUD client purchase is entirely your own choice.

Q: Is Roleplaying enforced?
A: Yes, roleplaying is strictly enforced in the Isle of War environment. We do however realize the need for the occasional social interaction. To that end we have implemented an out of character channel (ooctell) for your out of character conversations. Please note that this channel is not to be used as a substitute for in character. Please do not abuse it.

Q: Is there Player Killing here?
A: Yes, player killing is allowed and encouraged at the Isle of War. Multikilling,(killing the same person several times unprovoked in quick succession) however, is not allowed. Expect to be PK'd, it is a part of the game.

Q: Where can I ask questions?
A: You may ask questions of the immortal staff on our forum, through e-mail or in game. See "Contact" for more information.
